In this article we outline the security essentials and functional operations of the OKX (formerly known as OKEx) Web3 wallet, covering version updates, phishing prevention, how to use the built‑in DApp browser, and multi‑chain asset‑management techniques. The guide is designed to help newcomers get started quickly and explore DeFi and NFT ecosystems with confidence. Continue reading for step‑by‑step instructions.

Safely Using the OKX Wallet

Keep the software up to date

  • Regularly (we recommend at least once a month) check for and install updates to the OKX Wallet app so you receive the latest security patches and new features.
  • After each login, review the asset overview screen to verify that nothing looks out of the ordinary.

Defending against phishing and scams

  • The official team will never proactively request your mnemonic phrase, private key, verification codes, or any other sensitive information. If you receive such a request, ignore it immediately.
  • Be cautious when clicking links from unknown sources, especially pages that claim “wallet upgrade,” “security verification,” or “airdrop claim.”
  • Always double‑check the URL before connecting to a DApp to avoid landing on a counterfeit site.

Using the built‑in DApp browser

The OKX wallet includes a Web3 DApp browser (usually found under the “Discover” or “DApp” tab) that allows you to safely open decentralized applications such as DeFi protocols, NFT marketplaces, and GameFi titles. When you connect a DApp, the wallet will pop up an authorization prompt—read it carefully before confirming.

  • Multi‑chain asset management: The wallet supports several major blockchains; switching the network lets you view assets that reside on the selected chain.
  • Exploring DeFi and NFTs: Through the DApp browser you can participate in staking, borrowing, liquidity mining, or buy, sell, and display NFTs.

Official OKX Wallet Download

Official entry point

  • Visit the global OKX website to navigate directly to the wallet download page.
  • Android download link: `https://www.bitaigen.com/binance/download` *(US users should use Binance.US instead of the global Binance platform)*
  • Registration link (includes invitation code `B2345`): `https://www.okx.com/zh-hans/join/B2345`

On the homepage you will typically see a prominent “Wallet” or “Download Wallet” button; click it to proceed to the next step.

OKX Mobile Wallet

The OKX wallet is now integrated into the main OKX app, so a single installation on your mobile device gives you seamless switching between the “Exchange” and “Wallet” sections.

You can also search for “OKX Wallet” directly in your browser’s extension store, click Add, and then confirm installation in the extensions management page.

Creating a Web3 Wallet

After opening the app, locate “Web3 Wallet” in the top navigation bar. Inside, you will see a 【Create Wallet】 button—tap it to start the process.

Next, the 【Create Now】 screen appears; click it to reach the password‑setting page. This password functions like the login password for the exchange and is not the payment password—the true payment credential is the mnemonic phrase. Enter a password of at least six characters, then tap 【Continue】 to finish creating the wallet.

Backing Up and Storing the Mnemonic Phrase

When the wallet is created, the system prompts you to back up the mnemonic phrase immediately, offering cloud backup and manual backup options. For security reasons, manual backup is strongly recommended.

Manual backup steps:

  1. Tap 【Continue】 → 【I Understand】.
  2. Choose 【Back Up Now】 and enter the password you set in the previous step.
  3. In the pop‑up window, tap “View Mnemonic”; then write down the twelve words in the exact order on a piece of paper.

After you have written them down, the system will ask you to confirm the 4th, 9th, and 12th words. If the verification succeeds, the backup process is complete.

Backup best practices

  • Do not save the mnemonic by screenshot, copy‑paste, or any digital note that could be accessed online.
  • Avoid storing the phrase in cloud drives, chat histories, or any device that is connected to the internet.
  • Keep the paper copy in a fire‑ and moisture‑proof location; you may create multiple copies and store them in separate secure places.

Withdrawing USDT from the OKX Exchange to Your Web3 Wallet

Once you have securely backed up the mnemonic, you can transfer assets from the exchange to the newly created Web3 wallet. Follow these steps:
